About the Role: Managing Director Technology Communications Agency, Spain

We are partnering with a globally recognised technology communications consultancy to appoint a Managing Director for Spain.

This is a senior commercial and leadership role responsible for driving the agency’s growth, reputation, client leadership, and market expansion across Spain and the wider Iberian Peninsula.

Part of a highly respected international network, the agency advises some of the world’s most recognised technology brands, fast-growth scale-ups, AI businesses, investors, and digital innovators. The role offers the opportunity to lead a well-established business while playing a key role in shaping the next phase of growth within one of Europe’s most important technology markets.

Reporting Line and Strategic Context

Reporting into European leadership, the successful candidate will oversee the Spanish operation with full responsibility for commercial performance, new business generation, senior client relationships, and team leadership.

The role sits at the intersection of strategic communications, technology, reputation management, media relations, corporate positioning, and business growth.

This is not simply an operational leadership role. It requires a highly commercial agency leader with strong entrepreneurial instincts, proven business acumen, and the ability to identify, convert, and grow strategic opportunities within the technology and innovation ecosystem.

The successful candidate will play a central role in expanding the agency’s market presence, strengthening its positioning within Spain, and building long-term partnerships with clients across sectors including AI, SaaS, fintech, cybersecurity, enterprise technology, digital infrastructure, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities of the Managing Director

Commercial Growth and New Business Leadership

  • Lead and drive the agency’s commercial growth strategy across Spain and the wider Iberian region
  • Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities across technology and corporate communications sectors
  • Build a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities through networking, relationship building, and market engagement
  • Lead high-level pitches, proposals, and commercial negotiations
  • Develop long-term growth strategies aligned with wider European and global business objectives
  • Drive revenue growth, profitability, and overall business performance

Client Leadership and Strategic Communications

  • Act as a senior strategic advisor to C-suite stakeholders, founders, investors, and global brands
  • Oversee key client relationships across corporate communications, executive positioning, media strategy, reputation management, and thought leadership
  • Provide senior counsel on high-profile and sensitive communications matters
  • Ensure exceptional delivery standards across integrated communications programmes
  • Strengthen and expand existing client relationships through strategic account development

Leadership and Agency Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team within a collaborative and ambitious culture
  • Foster a strong commercial mindset across the agency
  • Partner closely with international leadership teams on cross-border opportunities and global client mandates
  • Support recruitment, talent development, and long-term succession planning
  • Ensure operational excellence, financial discipline, and strong agency performance

Market Positioning and Industry Leadership

  • Strengthen the agency’s positioning within the Spanish technology and innovation landscape
  • Build and maintain senior relationships across media, business, technology, investment, and industry networks
  • Identify emerging trends across AI, digital transformation, technology policy, and innovation
  • Represent the agency externally through networking, industry engagement, and thought leadership opportunities

Skills and Experience Required for This Managing Director Role

  • Significant senior leadership experience within a PR, strategic communications, or integrated communications agency
  • Strong track record of winning new business and driving agency revenue growth
  • Proven commercial acumen with experience managing P&L performance and business strategy
  • Deep expertise across technology communications, corporate reputation, and strategic advisory
  • Strong network across the Spanish technology, innovation, corporate, or investment ecosystem
  • Experience advising global technology brands, scale-ups, or investor-backed businesses
  • Excellent client leadership and stakeholder management capabilities at senior executive level
  • Demonstrated experience building, leading, and scaling successful teams
  • Entrepreneurial, ambitious, and growth-oriented mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English
