About the Role: Head of Financial Communications, Frankfurt

We are partnering with a leading global strategic communications consultancy to appoint a Head of Financial Communications based in Frankfurt.

This is a senior leadership role at the heart of one of Europe’s most important financial centres, working with some of the world’s most prominent financial institutions, corporates, private equity houses, and investor-backed businesses. The role offers the opportunity to lead and grow a market-leading financial communications practice in Germany, building on the firm’s global reputation for excellence in strategic financial advisory.

Reporting Line and Strategic Context

Reporting to senior European leadership, the successful candidate will take ownership of the Frankfurt financial communications practice — leading client mandates, driving new business, and developing a high-performing team.

The role sits at the intersection of financial communications, strategic advisory, capital markets, and corporate reputation. It requires an experienced, well-connected leader with deep expertise in financial markets, strong media and investor relations, and the ability to provide senior counsel to clients at the most critical moments.

The successful candidate will represent the firm at the highest levels of the German financial and corporate community, positioning it as the partner of choice for complex financial communications in the market.

Key Responsibilities of the Head of Financial Communications

Client Leadership & Strategic Advisory

  • Serve as a trusted senior advisor to clients across financial communications, investor relations, M&A communications, capital markets, and corporate positioning
  • Provide strategic counsel on high-profile, sensitive, and complex communications mandates
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships at board and C-suite level
  • Lead the development and execution of integrated communications strategies across a portfolio of flagship clients
  • Set and uphold the highest standards of client delivery across all mandates

Financial & Corporate Communications

  • Lead communications strategies for major transactions including IPOs, M&A, restructurings, and capital raises
  • Advise clients on earnings communications, investor messaging, and analyst engagement
  • Guide clients through crisis and issues management with clarity, confidence, and discretion
  • Craft and oversee compelling financial narratives, press releases, investor presentations, and thought leadership content
  • Monitor financial media, market developments, and the regulatory environment to provide timely and relevant client intelligence

Media Relations & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Leverage a strong network of senior relationships across financial, business, and trade media in Germany and internationally
  • Drive proactive media strategies that strengthen client positioning and elevate profile
  • Manage high-stakes reactive and crisis media situations with authority and precision
  • Identify opportunities for client visibility across earned, owned, and digital channels

Business Development & Practice Growth

  • Lead new business development — identifying, pitching, and converting strategic opportunities across Germany and the broader DACH region
  • Grow and deepen existing client relationships through strategic account development
  • Shape and drive the firm’s positioning and market presence in Frankfurt
  • Represent the firm externally through senior networking, industry events, and thought leadership
  • Contribute to the development and mentoring of junior and mid-level team members

Skills and Experience Required for This Head of Financial Communications Role

  • Substantial experience in financial communications, investor relations, or corporate communications at a senior level, within a leading consultancy or financial institution
  • Deep understanding of capital markets, M&A processes, and corporate finance
  • Proven track record of advising clients at board and C-suite level through transactions, crises, and high-profile communications situations
  • Well-established media relationships across German, European, and international financial and business press
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills — able to craft and oversee compelling narratives for sophisticated financial audiences
  • Strong commercial acumen with a demonstrable track record of winning and growing client mandates
  • Native German speaker with fluent English; additional European languages a plus
  • Based in Frankfurt or willing to relocate

Cultural Fit and Values

The consultancy values intellectual curiosity, commercial ambition, collaborative thinking, and an unwavering commitment to client excellence. The successful candidate will bring the seniority, judgement, and entrepreneurial drive to lead a market-defining practice, and the collaborative instinct to work seamlessly within a wider global network. They will thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment and bring the confidence and discretion required to advise at the very highest levels of the financial and corporate world.
