I am working with a leading global corporation who are looking for a Senior Director of Global Corporate Communications to work on a hybrid basis from their New York office.This position oversees and leads external communications, including global corporate branding, reputation growth, global and regional crisis and issues management, sustainability, media relations and brand PR, corporate social media/digital channel strategy, partnerships, industry and professional relations, and global communications strategy and implementation.  In addition, this role leads corporate affairs for the North America region.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a global healthcare (veterinary &/or human) setting with prior experience supporting global corporate communications. This individual should have a strong understanding of how to make complex information understood & actionable, with experience and confidence navigating urgent, time sensitive projects. They should be confident leading multiple strategies in tandem with other subject matter authorities and leaders and must be committed to delivering outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee and guide full spectrum of unified corporate communications strategy and planning and execution support, including media relations, spokesperson preparation and issues management, reputation.
  • Establish and grow the veterinary diagnostics corporate brand internally and externally
  • Be a catalyst for opportunities to enhance our corporate brand awareness and share of voice for the overarching communications program; leveraging a strategic plan that capitalizes on business milestones, new data, external partnerships and initiatives.
  • Establishing collaborative relationships across the organization and oversees advocacy to foster premier speaking engagements and partnerships with our science, diagnostics, data experts.
  • Lead on a global sustainability communications strategy that is adaptable for regions and support the divisional Leadership Team on embedding substantive sustainable decision making, data-led processes and behavior change.
  • Amplifying thought leadership and storytelling across executive leadership speaking forums, industry events, digital media, etc. and with key subject matter experts for North America.
  • Using a global mindset to develop and implement surround-sound communications strategies and campaigns that will drive the business in North America and provide a blueprint for other regions.
  • Measuring and analyzing effectiveness of communications approaches and impact on reputation, brand sentiment and codifying standard processes; leading the implementation of strategic or tactical changes to improve outcomes.
  • Design and lead collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders establish and lead a disciplined approach to our corporate narrative and own development of a strategic approach for global communications programs.
  • Lead global and North America issues management planning and processes
  • Oversee and guide management of PR agency partner(s) for assigned programs, with the goal of maximizing impact within agreed-upon budgets.

Skills and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or associated area is preferred.
  • Significant and relevant experience in corporate communications in agency or in-house, ideally in a scientific, medical, med tech, policy, technical, diagnostics or health field
  • Exceptional writer with proven ability to process, interpret and communicate complex information
  • Deep experience with media relations, writing news releases and briefing materials for executives including briefings, presentation, LinkedIn/Thought Leadership
  • Experience in social media and web content strategy and be adept at knowing how and when to suggest editorial ideas and provide framework for integration of content across multiple platforms (knowledge of platforms essential)
  • Proven experience in creating, facilitating and sustaining global external campaign and engagement programs with internal and external stakeholders
  • Capable of enterprise-wide thinking, leadership and stakeholder perspective-taking
  • High degree of professionalism, maturity, agility, executive presence, business understanding, organizational awareness and confidentiality
  • Proven experience managing global advocacy relationships with external thought leaders, academia, and professional societies
  • Deep experience managing issues and crisis situations
  • Fluency in English.
