Hanson Search is partnering with a leading international consumer goods group to appoint a Head of Sustainability to its London office. This senior role will shape the organisation’s sustainability strategy and embed it across the business, working closely with the executive team.
About the Head of Sustainability Role
Our client is a leading international consumer goods group with an ambitious long-term sustainability agenda. The Head of Sustainability will own the group’s ESG strategy and reporting. At the centre of the business, the role embeds sustainability into commercial decision-making at the highest level.
Head of Sustainability Responsibilities
- Strategy: Develop and lead the sustainability strategy, setting clear targets that align with the organisation’s commercial goals.
- Decarbonisation: Lead the net zero roadmap, covering emissions measurement across the full value chain and the reduction plans that follow.
- Reporting: Own ESG disclosure against frameworks such as CSRD and ISSB, making sure reporting is accurate and audit-ready.
- Board advisory: Advise the executive team and board on sustainability risks and opportunities affecting the business.
- Cross-functional leadership: Work with procurement, operations, finance and marketing to embed sustainability into day-to-day decisions.
- Team leadership: Lead a growing sustainability team and shape its future structure as the agenda matures.
- External profile: Represent the organisation with investors, regulators, industry bodies and NGOs on sustainability matters.
Sustainability and ESG Experience and Skills
- Significant experience leading sustainability or ESG strategy within a large or complex organisation.
- A strong understanding of current ESG reporting frameworks and the regulatory requirements shaping them.
- A proven record of delivering decarbonisation programmes with measurable results.
- Confidence advising senior leaders and the board, with the ability to influence across functions.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with strong presentation skills.
- Relevant professional qualifications, such as IEMA membership, are advantageous.
