Director Responsibilities in Financial PR, Investor Relations and Strategic Communications
- C-Suite Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with C-Suite executives across all client accounts in the financial services industry, offering strategic direction and guidance where appropriate.
- Leadership Experience in Financial Services: Bring leadership experience to the role, specifically in working with PLCs and private companies preparing for a stock market listing (AIM or main market).
- Strategic Communications: Provide input into client strategies and offer proactive counsel on communications approaches that align with financial objectives, enhancing corporate reputation and financial positioning.
- Investment Case Development: Formulate and articulate the investment case for listed companies in diverse sectors within the financial services industry, aligning with market-facing narratives.
- Senior Leadership Collaboration: Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to drive the success of client accounts, maximising business opportunities and ensuring consistent growth.
- New Business Development: Lead efforts to grow new business by driving proactive business development strategies and improving client relationships.
- Stakeholder and Industry Networking: Leverage an extensive network to generate new leads and bring in potential clients within the financial communications sector.
- Staff Development: Take an active role in staff retention by conducting regular reviews, identifying training opportunities, and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Fee Negotiation & Account Management: Lead fee negotiations with clients and ensure a profitable working relationship while maintaining the highest service standards.
Skills and Experience Required for a Financial Communications Director
- Proven leadership ability within financial communications, capable of challenging and innovating in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong track record in media strategy development and financial PR, with the ability to craft and deliver impactful communication campaigns.
- Expert stakeholder management skills, with experience in managing senior executives and external parties in the financial services sector.
- A collaborative mindset, building strong relationships across internal teams, clients, and partners.
- Experience in financial services PR, ideally with knowledge of regulatory communications, crisis management, and investor relations.
