SVP External Communications

We are working with a NYSE-listed company with an active and well-documented acquisition programme to find their SVP of External Communications. This is a senior appointment for an exceptional communications professional who is as comfortable driving strategy as they are getting into the detail, someone who has owned an external narrative at pace and knows what it takes to operate at the centre of a fast-moving, high-profile business. About the SVP External Communications Role

Reporting into senior leadership, the SVP of External Communications will own the organisation’s external communications agenda across business and financial media, corporate announcements, and executive positioning. You will serve as a trusted adviser to the CEO and executive team on all matters relating to media strategy, narrative and reputation, and you will do so as a hands-on operator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and own relationships with top-tier business and financial media, proactively shaping the company’s coverage across print, broadcast and digital
  • Lead communications around major corporate moments: acquisitions, partnerships, leadership announcements and other significant business developments
  • Work closely with senior leadership on earnings and quarterly communications, ensuring the company’s story is told clearly and consistently to external audiences
  • Build and protect the CEO’s public profile across media, thought leadership and speaking opportunities
  • Serve as the company’s primary spokesperson across business and financial press
  • Provide strategic counsel to the CEO and executive team on reputation, media strategy and external positioning
  • Draft and oversee press materials, executive communications, briefing documents and talking points to a high standard

About You

  • Strong, established relationships with journalists and editors across top-tier business and financial media
  • Proven experience managing communications around complex corporate events: transactions, announcements, or periods of significant business change
  • A track record of owning external communications at a public company, including through earnings and reporting cycles
  • Equally comfortable with strategy and execution. You deliver strong results and do not need a large team around you to do so
  • Experience in fast-moving, high-expectation environments where pace and judgement matter equally
