We are looking for a Public Affairs, Regulatory, Communications and Policy expert based in Copenhagen, Berlin or Brussels to join an innovative biotechnology company to engage with EU institutions and all relevant stakeholders, and help them shape the public debate around sustainability and green chemicals.

This cutting-edge biotechnology company has discovered how to capture carbon dioxide directly from industrial emitters and to convert it into recycled green chemicals using micro-organisms and other bio manufacturing processes, it’s revolutionary!

As Public Affairs and Public Policy Lead you will be working with a team of 17 (and growing) engineers, entrepreneurs and scientists from DTU, Stanford, MIT (and more), all sharing the same passion and commitment to revolutionise the chemical industry for a cleaner future.

The company has already raised 60 million euros from the European Union and non-dilutive funding, as well as venture capital investors. They’ve also opened their first commercial plant and are looking for a Public Affairs and Public Policy professional who can engage with government and related stakeholders to inform and educate them about carbon neutral / negative chemicals and the CO2 savings it can deliver.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive EU public affairs strategies and engage with relevant stakeholders in the climate/sustainability policy landscape, to position the company as a major player of the green revolution.
  • Defend and advocate the company’s interests and educate EU policy makers, regulators and EU institutions about the company’s mission and purpose.
  • Elaborate and deliver core strategies to cover the regulatory landscape on the climate and chemical side.
  • Draft internal and external communications and educational content including thought leadership materials.
  • Work closely with the engineering and scientific team, along with the founders and clients, to help them understand the full CO2 LCA for their current and upcoming projects.

Key requirements

  • Relevant experience in public policy, public affairs and advocacy strategies within a consultancy, a think-tank or company (start-up environment a plus)
  • Comprehensive network within the EU institutions and different stakeholders, navigating topics around climate, chemicals and sustainability
  • Extensive knowledge and passion for the climate, sustainability and / or chemical industry
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, a go-getter with ambition and strategic mindset
  • Understanding of start-up environment
  • Strongly advocate for a better, cleaner and more sustainable world
