Our client, a prominent PR and communications consultancy, ranking in the UK's top 10 for public affairs according to PR Week, is looking for a Public Affairs Account Manager / Account Director to join their London office. They boast a team of over 50 consultants, spanning offices in Westminster and Belfast, and serve a diverse clientele - from FTSE 100 firms to charities. Committed to professional standards, they hold memberships in industry organisations and maintain the Investors in People Gold Standard.

In response to growing client demands, they seek mid to mid-senior level consultants with 3 to 5 years of experience in public affairs, offering opportunities in a dynamic, client-facing role. The organisation values strong communication skills, the ability to handle diverse policy areas, and a commitment to driving new business growth.

Ideal candidates will thrive in a cross-party team with expertise in various domains, including Parliament, trade unions, local government, and business. They should excel at project management, meeting deadlines, and teamwork. While interests in health, education, and tech are welcomed, the agency also encourages self-starters eager to tackle new policy briefs. Active involvement in generating new business, strong research skills, and an ability to understand client needs are essential for these roles, shaping the future of the agency.

The organisation cultivates a dynamic environment, marked by professionalism and an open, inclusive culture. They foster a creative and vibrant atmosphere that values each team member, and the role presents an opportunity to become an integral part of a forward-thinking company culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing clients’ budgets, prioritising and meeting deadlines. Taking a hands-on approach by leading client accounts and shaping new business strategies.
  • Setting the team up for success on a day-to-day basis, whilst working with the clients to identify and address their emerging strategic needs.
  • To act as a trusted advisor to your clients and bring your expertise in running public affairs campaigns.
  • Nurturing and expanding client relationships; identifying potential leads and areas of growth with existing clients, as well as broader new business leads.
  • Being integral to shaping the agency's future, contributing to its growth and success.
  • Training and guiding junior team members and contributing to company culture.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-team environment.
  • Proficient in project management, meeting deadlines, and promoting teamwork.
  • Openness to diverse policy areas, including health, education, and tech, or a willingness to tackle new policy briefs.
  • Knowledge of managing day-to-day operations of client accounts, responding to client requests, delegating tasks and collaborating with the senior team.
  • Business development-oriented and proactive self-starter, able to attract clients and identify business opportunities.
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of driving account growth, securing new business, and pioneering new service offerings.
  • Naturally curious about economic, political and social matters, with a desire to stay up to date with the current news and trends.
