We have partnered with a passionate and mission driven company to find a government and parliamentary relations manager who will enjoy working with young people, supporting schools and colleges to deliver modern, 21st century careers education. 

In this role, the ideal candidate will be an experienced and confident self-starter, who will join the External Affairs Team, and have a strong understanding of the political climate, an excellent grasp of current affairs and a sharp political antenna to spot opportunities, challenge and risk for the organisation. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate flexibility, proactivity and strong organisational skills to thrive in a fast-paced and exciting environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong working relationship with our client’s named Minister and key officials within their team.
  • Building relationships in Government Departments responsible for key agendas.
  • Increase awareness and support amongst key MPs and peers through a systemised stakeholder, mapping, prioritisation and engagement approach.
  • Attending conferences or travelling to constituency meetings with MPs.
  • Undertaking ad hoc research, tasks and project work in support of the team and company strategy to help improve the voice of the company.
  • Ensuring continuous reviews and updating of contact management systems.

Key requirements:

  • Experience in a government relations, policy or public affairs environment.
  • Operational experience of UK political structures, processes and trends.
  • Proven experience of engaging through the policy processes.
  • Outstanding writing skills.
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasker and pays attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to engage senior and working level stakeholders.

Associate Consultant Matilda Beckett

Matilda joined Hanson Search in 2021, having previously worked as a Teaching Assistant in a London Day School. As an Associate Consultant, she specialises in the Public Affairs and Policy team, but has provided support for consultants across all areas of the market. Matilda has supported on a range of roles, including several senior hires, as well as looking to build strong candidate and client relationships. She graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in Philosophy and Theology.
