We are looking for a Government Affairs and Policy Manager based in Brussels to join a fast-growing cleantech scale-up company; who are commercialising a technology that is revolutionising the way our society will consumer energy in a net zero emission world.

As Government Affairs and Policy Manager, you will develop and drive EU public affairs and government relations strategies to influence policy and regulatory decisions that impact the company’s interests. You will own the relationships with both the European Parliament and the European Commission. Your success will be measured by a cleaner climate – our client wants regulations that help them reach net zero faster, which ensures a green industry in Europe.

This cleantech company has already grown to an industrial scale and they are now looking for an EU government affairs expert, with a strong network in the climate and renewable energy sector to help them navigate the current European regulatory landscape. The ideal candidate will also advocate and engage with the EU institutions, regulatory and policy makers around these topics and help shape the debate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Define and implement the entire government affairs strategy to best defend the company’s interests.
  • Inform and influence political and government stakeholders, build trust and relationships and represent the company in the European Electrolyzer partnership, and national associations.
  • Identify and handle emerging regulatory issues or opportunities and translate regulatory information into business insights.
  • Coordinate joint industry undertakings with other organisations to advocate for policies that support our organisation’s interests.
  • Be(come) a beacon of knowledge on key regulations including RED II/III, the Net Zero Industry Act, Critical Raw Materials Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.

Key requirements:

  • Proven track record in developing and executing public affairs and advocacy strategies with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials and policymakers.
  • Deep understanding of the legislative and regulatory process within climate, renewable energy or hydrogen and a strong network at the national and/or international level in these sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write white papers, policy briefs, and other materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, who thinks outside the box mindset.
  • Entrepreneurial approach with an ambition to take a leading role in building a next industry leading cleantech company.
