About the Role
As Director, Seqirus Communications – The Americas, you will play a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing strategic communications across the Americas (~$1B market encompassing USA, Canada and LATAM). This includes external communications, leadership and employee engagement, issues and crisis management, and supporting CSL Seqirus Commercial Operations.
You will act as the primary communications business partner and strategic adviser to the Heads of North America Commercial Operations and Global Medical Affairs, while also leading all federal/national media and issues management in the region, including pandemic-related activities.
This role requires a strategic thinker with deep communications experience in complex, issues-rich environments, a trusted adviser to senior leaders, and someone who can deliver measurable results on a global stage
Director of Communications Responsibilities – CSL Seqirus, The Americas
- Lead the Commercial Communications Strategy for the Vaccines Portfolio across the Americas.
- Develop and deliver high-impact, integrated communications strategies to support business priorities and enhance CSL Seqirus’ reputation.
- Manage all US national/federal media activities and act as a spokesperson for issues and crises.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier journalists, federal institutions, professional societies, advocacy groups, and key stakeholders.
- Serve as a primary communications partner to senior leadership, contributing to strategic planning, risk management, positioning, and decision-making.
- Anticipate reputational risks and lead development of issues and crisis management frameworks.
- Support global communications initiatives, including Business Development, R&D, and pandemic-related communications.
- Oversee and manage third-party communications agencies to ensure brand consistency and quality.
- Collaborate across highly matrixed teams globally, fostering strong partnerships with the Corporate Affairs and Internal Engagement teams.
Director of Communications Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field or similar (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of communications experience in product, corporate, or media communications.
- Experience in the Pharma/Biotech or a similarly regulated environment (highly desirable).
- 7+ years of experience directly managing media and issues, including crisis communications.
- Press secretary or equivalent high-level media management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong expertise in digital communications and leading global communications initiatives.
- Proven track record of success in highly matrixed, global organisations.
Exceptional ability to act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, including executive and board level stakeholders.
