These two roles would provide pivotal support to a leading pharmaceutical client’s sales and marketing functions. Specifically, they focused on the development and implementation of analytics and reporting requirements. Our client was looking for candidates with very particular skillsets and technical proficiencies. In addition, the two candidates would need to work well together and therefore have complementary skill sets. One of the technical proficiencies was relatively new to the pharma industry. This presented real difficulties in isolating the right talent. The challenge was furthered by the location of the role, based out of a commuter-belt office in Buckinghamshire.
Our Approach
We recognised early on that these roles would be difficult to fill for reasons beyond skills and industry experience alone. Because the role was office based, logistics presented a significant additional challenge. As a result, we began by identifying every business within a commutable distance that was providing similar solutions. This removed our biggest candidate pushback. Consequently, we were able to identify viable candidates within the two-week timeline our client had set us.
The Solution
After the first day of research, we identified three consultancies in the surrounding area. All three were offering business intelligence and visualisation services to the pharma industry. This allowed us to narrow the search considerably. Specifically, we were able to bring together the four key components our client required, namely pharma, analytics, visualisation and logistics, into one clearly defined headhunting ground. Furthermore, by focusing our search in this way, we could move quickly and with precision. We delivered four candidates at interview. Ultimately, the client appointed one candidate who could cover both roles. The client was delighted with the outcome.
