The Role: Head of Communications, UK,  Superstruct Entertainment

Hanson Search is excited to be the exclusive partner of Superstruct Entertainment, helping them find their first Head of Communications, UK. Superstruct is one of Europe’s leading live entertainment groups, operating a portfolio of major music and cultural festivals across the UK, continental Europe, and beyond — including some of the UK’s most-loved festival brands.

Reporting to the Director of Communications and working closely with the UK Managing Director, the Head of Communications is a highly relational, hands-on position. There is no existing playbook to inherit — you’ll be helping to build the infrastructure, the relationships, and the narrative in parallel, working at both a strategic and highly practical level. This is a rare opportunity to support building that function from the ground up and play a central role in shaping how Superstruct is understood in the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day UK festival communications strategy and response
  • Set a proactive, story-led UK narrative alongside the Director
  • Support on crisis and issues communications
  • Build a social media strategy for the UK business and manage website content, including video and audio
  • Raise the profile of key UK figures, from senior leadership to individual festival MDs and founders
  • Work with UK festivals’ PR agency relationships, ensuring consistent messaging
  • Assess political, licensing, and regulatory risk across UK festivals
  • Lead public affairs strategy for the UK portfolio, including relationships with government and industry bodies
  • Set the UK internal communications strategy, in coordination with the Group
  • Build relationships and share learnings with other Superstruct markets

About You

  • Senior comms background with some public affairs experience
  • Strong stakeholder management experience
  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on, and comfortable building a function from scratch
  • Strong creative and storytelling instincts
  • Sound judgement under pressure
  • Confident working with talent, creatives, or high-profile individuals
  • An international outlook, with an understanding of how content travels across markets
  • Excellent communicator across print, audio, and video
  • Good relationships with journalists in the creative sector and some business journalist relationships
  • Relevant backgrounds may include consumer brands, agencies, media/journalism, or fast-paced, culturally relevant industries such as theatre, TV, or politics (though the right mindset and cultural fit matter more)
  • A background in a start-up environment is an advantage
