We are looking for a Senior Consultant to join the trade policy team of a leading political advisory and communications consultancy in Brussels. The role entails leading on the management of client accounts, managing junior team members and developing business and market opportunities within the trade policy space.

This is an opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about building a team to provide valued strategic advice to clients.  This role would suit someone who is able to foster business development, execute market opportunities and has an in depth understanding of EU trade policy, EU institutions and the wider Brussels political environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the advocacy team in monitoring business opportunities and client accounts with a view to providing strategic insight and advice across trade policy and wider ESG
  • Contributing to client meetings and liaising with key clients to foster relationships and execute strategies
  • To identify and make recommendations for new clients and business proposals
  • Act as a key point of contact for one of the team’s biggest clients in the trade policy space
  • Organisation, management and mentoring of junior team members
  • Assisting in the implementation of the internal marketing strategy for the Policy team

Key Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of the EU trade policy and also international trade policy
  • Understanding of one other area of EU policy – ESG ideally or other policy areas such as sustainability, energy, tech, or privacy/data
  • Experience leading, or providing support leading client accounts and account management
  • Driven to manage and engage with team members at all levels, in order to support senior leadership in development of junior team members
  • High attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills including the capability to project manage
  • Ability to network and build good relationships

Consultant and Head of Research Matilda Beckett

Matilda joined Hanson Search in 2021, having previously worked as a Teaching Assistant in a London Day School. As a Consultant, she specialises in the Public Affairs and Policy team, but has provided support for consultants across all areas of the market. She also manages our research team. Matilda has supported on a range of roles, including several senior hires, as well as looking to build strong candidate and client relationships. She graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in Philosophy and Theology.
