We are working with an exciting organisation responsible for some of Europe’s largest urban regenerations projects. They oversee the management of property and real estate in Canary Wharf and their purpose is to transform urban spaces into extraordinary environments. As a commercial and residential property company, they have regenerated over 128 acres of once-derelict Docklands district of East London.

Their sites are used by over 120,000 working people daily and offer 18 million sq. ft of office, retail and leisure space as well as 940,000 sq. ft of retail and they have ambitious plans to create a further 500,000 sq. ft of new commercial property in a revolutionary £2.4bn construction programme.

With exciting projects at hand, our client is searching for an experienced Associate Director of Corporate Affairs to create key strategies and systems for interpreting and disseminating key ideas and issues from UK politics to ensure better business decision-making. As an Associate Director of Corporate Affairs, you will report into the Director of Corporate Affairs and identify key policy/political issues and events that will require appropriate strategies and plans for response.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working to advance the interests of the organisation with decision making bodies such as the UK government, Parliament, the Mayor of London and the London Assembly, industry regulators and local government
  • Assist in the development of the company’s strategic approach to corporate/government affairs, political and project stakeholder engagement
  • Assist the Director of Corporate Affairs to establish contact and relationships with key stakeholders
  • Represent the company at regular meeting with stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Planning and delivery of public affairs campaigns and activities that support the company’s overall policy influencing objectives
  • Assist with research and drafting written submission to government and attend select committee hearings and other relevant events

Key requirements:

  • At least 7 years’ experience within UK government and diplomatic or Regulatory and Government/Public Affairs in strategic, analytical or business setting
  • Deep understanding of UK government with substantial networks across the UK government within Westminster and Whitehall with considerable experience in UK regulatory frameworks and processes a requirement
  • Experience delivering and advising on strategic engagement activities and campaigns
  • Knowledge of the Local and Regional planning authorities as well as the UK’s environmental policy, the public sector and key organisations in the environmental sector is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and work effectively across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders fostering a network of contacts and building rapport and relationships quickly
  • Minimum 4-5 days a week in the office
