Lead Strategic Communications for a Leading UK Non-Profit

Our client, a high-profile UK non-profit organisation, is seeking an experienced Interim Director of Corporate Communications to lead its external communications strategy during a time of organisational change. This is a senior interim leadership role for a communications professional who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You’ll be responsible for protecting and enhancing the organisation’s reputation, refining its corporate narrative, and ensuring alignment across media, stakeholder, and public engagement channels.

Own External Communications, Reputation & Media Relations

Working closely with the executive leadership team, you will lead all aspects of corporate communications. This includes proactive media relations, issues management, brand messaging, and stakeholder engagement. Your goal will be to establish a clear and consistent voice for the organisation and support its evolving strategic objectives.

Lead Responsibilities – Corporate Communications Strategy

  • Develop and execute the external communications strategy during a period of transition

  • Lead on reputation management, corporate positioning, and brand clarity

  • Act as a key spokesperson and manage high-level media engagement

  • Build relationships with national media and key stakeholders

  • Introduce effective communications processes and content planning frameworks

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure message alignment across channels

  • Support the executive team with crisis communications and stakeholder communications as required

Key Skills & Experience – Interim Director of Corporate Communications

  • Proven experience as a Communications Director or senior-level corporate communications lead

  • Strong track record in media relations, reputation management, and external stakeholder engagement

  • Experience in the charity, non-profit, or public sector (desirable but not essential)

  • Strategic mindset with hands-on delivery capability

  • Confident advising senior leadership and acting as the organisation’s communications lead

  • Exceptional writing, messaging, and editorial skills
