This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team in London who are dedicated to positively transforming people and their communities. This organisation has a strong focus on social impact. As Director of Public Affairs, you will be responsible for developing and managing the government relations strategy and ensuring that the company are using the experience of public service delivery to help shape future public policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a strategic plan to determine which policy decisions may affect the organisations and ensure they keep up to date with the ever-changing environment
- Communicating their policy positions to stakeholders effectively, through targeted and timely messages and campaigns and acting as their spokesperson, including managing reactive or urgent communications for the business as required
- Develop campaign plans and proactively manage media around the campaigns in order to build and enhance their reputation of the company
- Develop the organisation’s strategy and plans for engagement with key external stakeholders such as local, regional and national government, parliament, the mainstream media, trade bodies, think tanks and other interest groups. In doing so you will ensure we build excellent relationships with key individuals.
- Being a part of the Executive team and helping to shape their business plans and strategy
- Support colleagues to establish annual priorities based on the external environment and the UK’s policy priorities
Key Requirements:
- Significant experience of working in the public/government affairs environment, either through government, a political party or within a public affairs role in industry or a consulting role
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and working on high profile/politically sensitive and complex issues with the UK government and mainstream media
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, non-hierarchical environment that strives for continuous improvement
- Passionate about campaigning, influencing and driving policy change
- The skills to work on a wide range of tasks at all levels across the organisation and thrive on the challenge of delivering key priorities.
- The ability to contribute as part of the Executive Team to support the development of the strategic policy agenda
- Excellent written/oral communication and networking skills
