A well-respected trade association is looking for a senior public affairs professional with extensive experience operating in a highly-regulated space - such as financial, pharmaceutical, or legal services.

This is an excellent role for someone who is passionate about creating and delivering proactive public affairs campaigns that result in real legislative change. The ideal candidate will also enjoy the challenge of managing high-profile news stories and crisis communications.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be a pivotal member of the senior management team capable of operating independently to develop and deliver on policy initiatives that are beneficial to the organisation’s corporate strategy in the interest of its members. 

This exciting role offers the opportunity to work with some of the top organisations in the financial and medical space and will suit someone who enjoys building and maintaining close partnerships with relevant professional bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for continuing a pro-active approach in external relations strategies.
  • Handle of the development and implementation of external relations.
  • Expand and manage governmental relations plan utilising support from professional services personnel/marketing and sales as appropriate.
  • Establish networks with regulatory bodies, agencies and associations and actively manage ongoing relationships.
  • Liaise closely with members of the Executive to improve government relations, media and external communications drafting briefing papers and scripts as appropriate.
  • Support the Chairman, Chief Executive, Professional Services Director and others in the production of documents and correspondence of strategic importance to the trade association. 

Key Requirements

  • Should be able to think strategically and be able to negotiate successfully.
  • A thorough knowledge of UK and Ireland political and parliamentary processes and an understanding of political audiences are crucial.
  • Excellent communication skills and representational skills together with significant experience in all aspects of external relations are essential.
