This is a unique opportunity for a strategic and politically savvy professional to join an ambitious organisation in Berlin at the forefront of digital mobility. As Public Affairs Director for Germany, you will lead regulatory and government relations efforts at national and regional levels, working at the intersection of transport policy, digital innovation, and sustainability.

You will be part of the global public affairs team and collaborate with internal experts across legal, product, business development, and communications. The role is based in Berlin with a hybrid work model.

Our Client

Our client is a fast-growing, international tech company transforming the way people move across borders. With a mission grounded in sustainability, accessibility and innovation, they offer digital solutions for long-distance shared mobility across Europe. As Public Affairs Director, you will:

  • Lead the company’s public affairs and government relations strategy in Germany
  • Act as the main point of contact for public authorities, regulators and political stakeholders across the mobility and tech ecosystem
  • Monitor and analyse regulatory developments in areas such as shared mobility, digital platforms, sustainable transport, and passenger rights
  • Advise internal teams on political and regulatory risks or opportunities affecting the company’s German operations
  • Develop and deliver effective advocacy strategies, positioning the company as a credible voice in key policy conversations
  • Engage with ministries, parliamentary bodies, regulatory agencies and local authorities to support the company’s growth objectives
  • Represent the company in industry associations, expert groups and public policy forums
  • Draft briefing notes, position papers, policy responses and legal summaries tailored to diverse audiences
  • Support cross-border coordination on EU-level regulatory issues in partnership with other public affairs colleagues
  • Contribute to shaping a regulatory environment that enables innovation while protecting consumer and environmental interests

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience in public affairs, government relations, or public policy, ideally in the mobility, digital or tech sectors
  • In-depth understanding of the German political and legislative system, with knowledge of EU processes considered a plus
  • Proven experience in engaging with government bodies, regulators or elected officials
  • Strong strategic thinking, political sensitivity and the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English
  • Ability to translate legal or regulatory developments into actionable business insights
  • Confident public speaker with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Organised, autonomous, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment
