What a week! With the thermometer consistently hitting the high 20’s, the football World Cup warming up nicely as we reach the knockout stages and the start of Wimbledon. Call me a cynic but was the 11 hour marathon match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut just a publicity stunt by the organisers to ensure that some interest was paid to SW19 during the World Cup?!
Add into the mix Ascot and the England v Australia cricket, the great British sporting summer is in full flow. With this mind my thoughts turned to the summer of 2012 when the world will focus on London and the Olympics. However it seems that only fans with Visa cards will be able to purchase tickets for the event. The symbol of the Olympics are the coloured rings and represent the five parts of the world willing to accept healthy competition, except when it comes to selling tickets it seems! So to paraphrase Visa’s major competitors…apparently for everything else but the Olympics, there’s Mastercard…
