This is the first app of its kind and is expected to be a hit for businesses and PR professionals alike. Paver Smith MD, Dougal Paver explained that although all of the information offered by the app can be sourced from various online locations their idea for the app was to synchronise all of this information in one user-friendly place and of course make it free!

 

The app has been receiving positive feedback from those who have already downloaded it and I am sure this will start a trend for the production of similar useful and accessible PR tools.

After meeting the whole team I get down to it, still reciting everyone’s names over and over, and begin what may become a long journey in PR. Despite the early mornings I’ve really enjoyed my time here and with every day I learn something new. So thank you to the team and long may it continue…

 

Recent news in PR, amid transfer speculation and rumours, Arsenal FC has departed with longstanding head of communications Amanda Docherty after a dedicated 12 years in the post. Whilst John Lewis has appointed the London Communications Agency for a six figure brief to promote its new store opening at Westfield Stratford City.

Armed with our trusty guest list – I’m not going to name and shame the no-shows just yet, I headed down to the world famous Ronnie Scott’s with Erin, Kelly, Laura and Alice or as I like to think of them, ‘Conan’s Angels’

 

It was great to see so many familiar faces as well as meeting plenty of new PR’s and journalists.  Feedback from the event has been amazing and many thanks to Helen Lewis-Hasteley from Schmooze and Booze for helping arrange the evening.  There are some photos on the Hanson ProTem Facebook page as well.

 

Finally congratulations to Mark Barber from Eulogy! who won the Red Letter Day vouchers.

Having had a lovely time at Brands2Life’s summer party at Circus back in June I made a reservation and we had such a great time!

 

To start I had the chicken and tiger prawn skewers followed by 24 hour slow roasted, ‘fall-off-the-fork’ beef short ribs for my main. The food was delicious, but it was the evening entertainment that really ticked the boxes for us. We were entertained by 3 acts; a trapeze artist, a gentleman walking on his hands and a ‘doll-who-turned-into-a-vamp’ type lady (a bit of a comedy act)…..they were brilliant! 

 

The service was spot on and the restaurant itself which has been designed by British designer Tom Dixon was really different. I would fully recommend attending; it is a ‘special occasion’ venue and the prices meet this but if you fancy something a little different I would happily suggest going.

Scientists at the University of California have warned that by constantly filling the gaps in our daily life with some form of digital input we are forfeiting valuable downtime needed by the brain to retain information and formulate ideas. We naturally strive to improve our daily productivity with digital multi-tasking but it seems the long-term side effects can be quite detrimental side-effects for our poor overworked brains.

 

So if you are feeling a bit creatively stunted of late please take time this weekend to turn everything off and just sit…in silence. Happy holidays!

The Swiss pharma company today publishes its Social Media Principles, a four-page document of operating procedures for staff, and it gave Digital Pharma an exclusive preview.

 

One of the standout points is a requirement for its global workforce of more than 80,000 to be on the lookout for “sentiment and critical issues” when they use social media websites in a personal capacity.

 

The firm acknowledges that blogs, wikis and social networks, like Facebook and LinkedIn, “are changing the way we are communicating, interacting, and doing business – with patients, customers and other stakeholders outside Roche, but also within the Roche network”.

Similar to the model of Foursquare, Facebook will launch its app believed to be named ‘Places’ which will rival and potentially dominate this increasingly popular market online. With Foursquare having around 2million users to date and increasing daily, could it compete if with Facebook and their 500million+ audience?

 

Either way it’s a great tool for advertising and for market research, and with the potential offer of added discounts when you ‘check-in’ at several locations, why wouldn’t you? Big brother is watching you say…??
